No audio devices visible in sound properties on Toshiba laptop

Problem

When you are trying to use the inbuilt microphone on your Toshiba laptop, no sound is detected .

Cause

The inbuilt microphone / speakers have been disabled.

Solution

1. Click on the Start menu.
2. Click on Control Panel.
3. If you can see “Hardware and Sound”, click that and then click Sound.
   Otherwise, click on the Sound icon.
4. Click on the Playback tab and you will notice it states “No audio devices are installed”.
5. Right click in an empty part of the box and check the option “Show Disabled Devices”.
6. Right click the device and click “Enable”.
7. Click OK.
