"Application not found" when clicking on links in email

This article applies to Windows Vista but may also apply to newer versions of Windows.
When you click on a link in an email you get the message “Application not found.”


  1. Click the Start button.
  2. Click Default Programs.
  3. Click Next,
  4. Click Internet Explorer.
  5. Click Set all defaults.
These instructions assume that you are using Internet Explorer as your default browser. If you use a different browser, you will have to make it the default again.
