DSS Player won’t let you install because you already have a newer version

Problem

You get the following error:

“A newer version than the one you are installing is already installed.
Installation will be aborted.”

DSS player is already uninstalled or you are unable to uninstall it.

Solution

1. Click the Start button (Windows XP users should then click Run).
2. Type regedit and press Enter.
3. On the left, browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > Software > Olympus.
4. Delete anything under this folder with the name “DSS Player” or “Device Detector” by pressing the Delete key on the item.

Then try installing DSS Player again.
