The VirusBarrier X6 Daemon is not running.

Problem

When you start your Mac you get a message appear stating:
“Waiting for Mac OS X initialization to complete”.

After a while, a new message appears with the following error:

The VirusBarrier X6 Daemon is not running.
“It must be running for VirusBarrier X6 to work correctly. You may need to restart your Macintosh.”

Solution

  1. Click the Apple icon in the top left of the screen.
  2. Click System Preferences.
  3. Click on Accounts.
  4. In the bottom left of the window, click the padlock.
  5. Enter your password if you have one.
  6. Click OK.
  7. Click on your account name on the left.
  8. Click the ‘Login Items’ tab.
  9. Highlight the item containing the word “Intego”.
  10. Click the – (minus) button to remove it.

  1. I followed this solution, but I could not find the item “Intego” in the “Login Items” dialog box.
    What can I do, then?

      1. Yes, I reinstall VirusBarrier, and it is working good.
But I have not original install package. So I downloaded new trial version and installed it.
Then it looks a authorized version(my name and support number was recovered).

  2. I’ve had the Intego Software since 2010 and it hasn’t worked yet… After deciding to try again, I installed the update (the mac OS is 10.6.8) and removed IntegoStatusItemHelper from login. I emailed directly (twice I think, with no reply)… and it still doesn’t work. Any ideas please?
