Remove and prevent the Java ByteVerify exploit

Problem

Your virus scanner detects a virus under one of the following names (or similar):

• Java.ByteVerify
• Exploit:Java/ByteVerify
• Exploit:Win32/Byteverify

Cause

These viruses infect a system by having a Java application (usually from the Internet) run that uses exploits found in certain versions of Java.

Solution

To remove and prevent the exploit:

1. Run a virus scan.
2. Click the Start button.
3. Click Control Panel.
4. Click on Java.
5. Go to the Update tab.
6. Click Update Now.
7. Install the latest version.
