Slow performance in Word with coloured text boxes

Problem

When using coloured text boxes and text effects there are delays when typing and scrolling down the page.

Solution

1. Open the document and press Ctrl + A to select all the text.
2. On the ribbon toolbar, click the Home tab if it is not already selected.
3. Click the Clear Formatting button located in the Font section (see below).
   
4. Click the File (or Office) button and click Save As.
5. Change the “Save as type:” dropdown to “Word 97-2003 Document”.
6. Click Save.
