Problem
In Mac OS X, you right click your external hard drive and click eject but it gives the following error:
“The volume [Name] cannot be ejected because it is currently in use”
Solution
- Make sure all programs are closed.
- Click the Apple icon in the top left of the screen, then click Force Quit.
- In the list click Finder.
- Now click the Relaunch button.
Then try ejecting the drive again.
Thank you so much! I am pretty literate when it comes to my mac, but after quitting all tasks, this was the only solution to actually work! I never would have though of doing this on my own!
Thank you very much! Easy and effective solution
I use to restart the computer when this would happen. This is quicker and easier fix to the problem.
