Black screen with bar graphs appears on Mac

Problem

On your Mac, a black screen appears with several bar graphs and statistics shown (see image below). When this happens, you are unable to use the computer or come out of it.

Cause

This is actually the Intego VirusBarrier screen saver although it is currently unknown as to why you are unable to get out of it.

Solution

This is easily resolved by choosing a new screen saver:

1. Click the Apple icon in the top left of the screen.
2. Click System Preferences.
3. Click on “Desktop & Screen Saver” on the first row.
4. On the left, you will see a list of selectable screen savers. Click on anything that isn’t the Intego screen saver.
5. Close the window.
