Windows not saving Desktop settings on shutdown

Problem

When you restart the computer, at least one of the following settings are not the same as before you shut it down:

• The  screen resolution
• Size and order of Desktop icons
• Size and order of Quick Launch icons

Solution

1. Download and run this registry patch.
   (Right click the link, then click Save Target As / Save link as.)
2. When it asks if you want to add the information, click Yes.
3. Restart the computer.
