Change Desktop icon sizes in Vista or Windows 7

To make icons smaller:

1. Right click an empty space on the desktop.
2. Select View.
3. Click Classic Icons.

To change to a custom size:
Another way is to use the scroll wheel on your mouse or trackball. With the cursor on the desktop, press and hold the Ctrl key and scroll the mouse wheel to make icons larger or smaller.
