Problem
When you open Safari on your Mac, you get the following message: “The application Safari quit unexpectedly”.
Solution
Try deleting (or moving to a temporary directory) the following folders or files:
- ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Safari.plist
- ~/Library/Safari/ (make sure to preserve the Bookmarks.plist file)
- ~/Library/Cache/com.apple.Safari/
- /Library/Internet Plug-Ins/ *
- ~/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/ *
~ = The user’s home folder
* = These folders contain third party plugins such as flash, trashing them may require them to be reinstalled
