Stop Firefox asking you to install Quicktime to view pages

Problem

Mozilla Firefox says that Quicktime is a required plug-in to view a page when infact, the page runs fine without it.

Solution

  1. In the address bar of Firefox type about:config and press Enter.
  2. Double click on the value “plugins.hide_infobar_for_missing_plugin” so it’s status is set to true.
  3. Restart Firefox and it should no longer ask you to install Quicktime.

This works for any plugin that keeps asking to be installed when you may already have it, not just Quicktime.
