Firefox search on home page doesn’t work

Problem

When you open Firefox, the search function on the home page doesn’t work. Nothing happens when you press Enter or click the Search button.

Solution

  1. In the address bar type about:config and press Enter.
  2. A message will appear. Click the button that says “I’ll be careful, I promise!”
  3. In the Filter input box type dom.storage.enabled
  4. One item will appear in the list. If it says “false” under the Value column then double click it so that it changes to true.
  5. In the Filter input box type browser.startup.homepage_override.buildID
  6. One item will appear in the list. Right click on it and click Reset.
  7. Restart Firefox.
