To set Data Execution Prevention (DEP) to it’s default setting:
- Click the Start button.
- Right click on Computer / My Computer.
- Windows XP users can ignore this step. On the left, click on Advanced System Settings.
- In the System Properties window, click on the Advanced tab.
- Click the Settings button in the Performance section.
- Click the Data Execution Prevention tab.
- Click on “Turn on DEP for essential Windows programs and services only” if it isn’t on there already.
- Click OK.
- Restart the computer.
