Problem
After being infected with the Win32/Alureon.FE virus, you are unable to find a lot of your files.
Cause
The files have had the “hidden” attribute set to them.
Solution
- Open Command Prompt as Administrator.
- Select all the text in the box below and press Ctrl + C to Copy:
attrib C:\* -h /S /D - Right click in the Command Prompt, click Paste and press Enter.
- For other drives with the problem, repeat the line but replace C with the letter of the hard drive.
- Close Command Prompt.
To re-hide a file or folder:
- Right click on the item and click Properties.
- Check the “Hidden” checkbox.
- Click OK.
