Go to the Applications folder. Open the Utilities folder. Open Terminal. Enter the following commands, pressing Enter after each line: defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles TRUE killall Finder Press cmd + Q to quit Terminal. To hide the files and folders again, change the word TRUE to FALSE in Step 4.

Volumes folder appears on the hard drive
Problem On your hard drive you see a folder called ‘Volumes’. If you delete the folder it will just come back when you restart. Solution The Volumes folder is meant to be there, just not visible. Hide files and folders in Mac OS X from Finder
Download the Hide Folders application. Run the program. Drag the any files or folders into it that you want to hide. Then click the Hide button. They will now stop appearing in Finder
