Scanner not detected in ReadIris 12

This fix was used whilst troubleshooting an OpticBook 3600 scanner but should work for problems with other scanners.

  1. Go to the Applications folder.
  2. Open the Readiris folder.
  3. Ctrl + Click on the Readiris 12 application and select Get Info.
  4. Check the box for 32 Bit Mode.
  5. Close this window and launch ReadIris.
  6. Go to the Readiris Preferences and check if your scanner is listed. If not, check the box “Enable Image Capture scanners”.

If that does not work:

  1. Download and install the latest driver available for your scanner on the website of your manufacturer.
  2. Check that the latest version has been correctly installed.
  3. Otherwise, go to and download the latest update.
