Unexpected site shown when using Google

Problem

In any browser, when you go to or search with Google you get a page you weren’t expecting. It may look suspicious, have popups or show server errors such as “500 Internal Server Error” while working fine on other computers.

Cause

This can be caused by malware modifying your hosts file.

Solution

1. Download and run our Reset Hosts tool for Windows or Mac.
2. It will ask if you want to reset the hosts file. Click Yes.
3. A message will appear to confirm it has completed. Click OK.
4. If running Windows, you should then run a Spyware Scan.
