Make 32-bit Applications use more Virtual Memory

Problem

By default, 32-bit applications are restricted to using 2GB of virtual memory which may not be suitable for optimised performance.

Solution

Applies to 64-bit versions of Windows
It is not recommended to use this information for all of your 32-bit applications and should only be used for testing or troubleshooting purposes.

You can change the limit from 2GB to 4GB of virtual memory using the application 4GB Patch, a free download available from the NTCore website.

  1. Download and run the 4GB patch.
  2. You will be prompted to choose an executable file.
  3. Select the .exe file you wish to use.
  4. A message should appear saying the file was successfully patched. Click OK.

A backup of the application will be made in the same directory.
