Olympus Dictaphone not detected in Sonority on Windows

Problem

In Sonority, your Olympus Dictaphone is not detected despite it being plugged in and showing as a drive on your computer.

Cause

The Olympus DVR Service is not running.

Solution

1. Press the Windows key + R to bring up the Run dialog.
2. Type services.msc and press Enter.
3. If prompted, click Continue or Yes to proceed.
4. In the list of services, find “Olympus DVR Service”.
5. Right click on the entry and click Properties.
6. IN the “startup type” dropdown, it may say Disabled. Change it to Automatic.
7. Click Apply.
8. Underneath the dropdown, click the “Start” button (not to be confused with the start menu).
9. Once it has started click OK.
10. Close Sonority (if it is already open) and re-open it.
