Pages cannot be read in multi-page view modes.

Problem

When opening PDF files, the view mode will be set to single pages before speech starts. The message “Pages cannot be read in multi-page view modes.” appears when using PDFaloud and even if you check the option that says ‘Do not show this message again’, it will only close after a number of clicks and always returns when you open another PDF document.

Solution

  1. Go to the following location:
    Windows Vista, 7 or Newer: C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\pdfaloud 3.0
    Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Application Data\pdfaloud 3.0
  2. Open the “pdfaloud.ini” file.
  3. Change the line which reads “pageviewwarning=yes” to “pageviewwarning=no”.

This will stop the message appearing for the user. You can also switch off this error for all users by editing another pdfaloud.ini file in the same way:

  • From the Adobe Reader directory, go to \Reader\plug_ins\texthelp_defaults to find the file.
    (For example: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Reader 9.0\Reader\plug_ins\texthelp\defaults)
