"Cannot find BookTWAIN" with OpticBook 3600


When scanning with an Opticbook 3600 using ReadIris on a Mac, you get an error stating that it cannot find the BookTWAIN device.


This can be caused by a bad driver or installation.


  1. Turn off the scanner.
  2. Delete these folders:
    • /Library/Application Support/Plustek
    • /Applications/Plustek
  3. Delete ths folder:
    • /Library/Image Capture/TWAIN Data Sources/BookTWAIN.ds
  4. Delete all files in this folder:
    • /Library/Image Capture/Devices/
  5. Empty the Trash.
  6. Download and Install our Mac compatible driver for the OpticBook 3600.
  7. Turn on the scanner.
